Handling your Contact Lens with Care
INTENDED USE
Indicated for the correction of ametropia (myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, presbyopia) in aphakic and non-aphakic parsons with non-diseased eyes.
INSTRUCTION
Please remove and clean the lenses every day and replace contact lenses every 15/30 days, according to the frequency of the brand you are purchasing. For Daily lenses, please discard after 1 day, as they are not intended for multiple use.
WARNINGS
Patients should be advised of the following warnings pertaining to contact lens wear:
- DO NOT use if the sterile blister package is opened or damaged.
- All contact lens wearers must see their eye care professional as directed. Adequate follow-up by an eye care professional is essential for the safe use of contact lenses.
- The safety of contact lenses depends upon proper use
- Daily Wear lenses are not indicated for overnight wear and lenses should not be worn while sleeping, Clinical studies have shown that the risk of serious adverse reactions such as infection or permanent damage to vision is increased when these lenses are worn overnight.
- If any eye discomfort, excessive tearing, blurred vision or vision chances, or redness of the eye are experienced, immediately remove the lenses and contact an eye care professional prior to resuming use
- If the contact lens is cosmetically tinted contact lens, visibility could be reduced in low light conditions (only tor colored lenses.)
- Strictly follow recommended DIRECTIONS FOR USE and lens care procedures as failure to do so can result in Infection with possible permanent damage to vision.
- Do not allow tap water, homemade solution or Other non-sterile solutions (pool water) from what has been suggested for storing the lenses to come into contact with your lenses.
- An eye care professional should be consulted prior to use in certain atmospheric or environmental conditions that can cause irritation to the eye.
- Never wear your lenses when you’re going to be around irritating vapors,
- Always fallow the eye care professional’s instructions for any lens type or care system
- During sporting activities. Especially swimming and other water sports. Exposing contact lenses to water during swimming or while in a hot tub may increase the risk Of eye infection from microorganisms.
INSERTION AND REMOVAL TIPS
General tips:
- Hands should be washed and thoroughly rinsed before handing lenses.
- A soap which is free of oils, lotions or perfumes is recommended.
- Hands should be dried with a lint-free towel.
- Use finger tips to handle lens (avoid fingernails and sharp objects).
- Check Lens is clean, wet and damage free
A. HOW TO INSERT YOUR LENSES
- Place the wet, clean “right” lens on the tip of the index or middle finger of your dominant hand(if you’re right-handed thig would be your right hand) and pull down the lower lid with the middle or ring finger of same hand. use your other hand to hold the upper lid firmly open.
- Looks directly at the lens or tank directly into a mirror and place the lens directly on the cornea (the large colored circle in the center of your eye).
- Slowly release your hold on the lid. If there are any air bubbles beneath the lens. close your eye, and with the eye closed, roll the eye gently. Another way of getting rid of air bubbles is 10 massage the lids very lightly. Under no condition, however, should you rub your eyes.
B. REMOVING THE LENS
Look up. With middle finger, hold down lower lid. use forefinger to slide lens to lower part of eye. Pinch lens with thumb and forefinger and remove without excessively folding the lens. Make sure that fingers are dry when removing the lens.
Attention: If the patient reports any problem, she or he should be instructed to IMMEDIATELY remove the lens. Then the patient should look closely at the lens and check it is damaged or not, It the problem continues, the patient should IMMEDIATELY consult her or his eye care professional.
MAINTENANCE – Daily cleansing and maintenance
A. CLEANSING
Step 1: Wash your hands first. Remove right or left contact lens and place it in center palm. Add drops of multipurpose or disinfection solution cleaning solution to surface of lens.
Step 2: Using the index finger of the apposite hand. gently rub the solution into lens for about 30 seconds.
Step 3: Rinse lens with multipurpose or sterile saline solution. place lens in case and then fill case with multipurpose or sterile saline solution.
Attention:
- When cleaning lenses, do not rub in a circular motion, please lightly rub lenses in a single direction on both sides.
- Be careful not to pull the lens.
- Weekly neutralizing tablets are not required
B. STORAGE
Before use: The contact lenses should be completely covered in sterile saline or multipurpose solution during storage. The lens will dry out and became damaged.
After use; Rub the contact lenses with a finger and rinse thoroughly before soaking the lenses
Step 1: Clean the contact lens case after each use and keep the case open and dry between cleanings.
Step 2: Clean the lens as per A. CLEANSING above
Step 3: Put the lens in the storage case and cover completely with multipurpose or sterile saline solution.
Step 4: Tighten the appropriate cap (R far right and L for left) on the storage ease for each lens.
Lens storage and carrying cases should be clean and airtight.
Contact lens solution must be changed every day, even if the lenses are not used daily,
Do not use saliva or anything other than the recommended solutions for lubricating or rewetting
lenses. Do not put lenses in the mouth
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Do not use contact lenses when any of the following conditions exist:
- Acute and sub-acute inflammation or infection of the anterior chamber of the eye. Any eye disease, injury. or abnormality that affects the cornea, conjunctiva, or eyelids.
- Severe insufficiency of lacrimal secretion (dry’ eyes)
- Corneal hypoesthesia (reduced corneal sensitivity)
- Any systemic disease that may affect the eye or be exaggerated by wearing contact lenses,
- Allergic reactions ocular surfaces or adnexa that may induced or exaggerated by wearing contact lenses,
- Any active corneal infection (bacteria’, fungal, or viral)
- if eyes become red or irritated,
- The patient is unable follow lens care regimen or unable to obtain assistance to do so.
NOTE: After placement of the lens, if your vision is blurred or changed. please check for the following:
- Lens is not centered on the eye,
- The lens is on the wrong eye
- The lens is Inside-out.
- The surface of lens is unclean.
- Please dispose of the lens and apply a fresh lens every 30 days.
WEARING SCHEDULE
For the first time user, please wear 4 hours only, and thereafter add 1-2 hours each day, up to a maximum of 12 hours while awake.
Based on health considerations, the maximum suggested daily wearing time for the lenses are:
Day 1 – 4 to 6 hours
Day 2 – 6 to 8 hours
Day 3 – 8 to 10 hours
Day 4 – 10 to 12 hours
Day 5 onwards – no more than 12 hours
- Contact lens should be left out of the eye for a minimum of 8 hours prior to inserting a fresh lens
- Annual visits with your Eyedealogists are necessary to ensure the continuing health of the patient’s eye
